Additional Information

Only 10 minutes to Governor's Harbour airport (75 minute by air from Miami), yet absolutely no aircraft noise. About 10 minute to Governor's Harbour town that has two large food stores, 2 gas stations and 2 banks - the Royal Bank of Canada and Barclays Bank.

There is also a travel agency in Governor's Harbour and a Club Med which is currently investing approximately $15 million for rebuilding their premises on the Atlantic side of Governor's Harbour.

Shangri-la is currently owned by a Swiss couple (56 and 52) who have lived full-time on Eleuthera for two years. They supervised the building of the main house according to Swiss architect plans. They lived for 6 months in the cottage while the main house construction was completed.

Both houses are supplied with good quality city water. There is also a 1,000 gallon plastic rain water tank in the ground. Access to extra phone lines if needed. Main house comes with a PC and Internet connection. Presently, one telephone line installed to service internet, phone and fax.

Shangri-la is located next to an extensive palm garden lovingly cared for a US neighbor who has no intention of building or selling in the mid-term future. Very picturesque, the area is  well protected from hurricanes. During the huge hurricane Floyd in 1999, the property house suffered no structural damage, faring much better than the majority of other homes on this island.

Guests of the rental cottage from Europe and the US consider this area and the beach - a 1-2 minute walk from the house - the most beautiful one in Eleuthera.

Fine, pink sand on wide beach, ideal for walking. Great fishing and snorkeling right from our shore. Hardly any tourists on the beach. Feeling of having a private beach.

The Atlantic side of the island where Shangri-la is located is generally cooler than the other side. The Atlantic side is also considered the more picturesque, with most of Eleuthera's sandy beaches are there.
